The award is 10 inches tall (11″ including base). Beginning in 2024, awards changed from black crystal to nickel. The transition was imperceptible. All awards are gold plated with a red velvet topped base. Entries are generally accepted from January to November, and sometimes in December. The Academy has a strict policy that names of actual individuals who did the work are engraved on all awards.
